baltimoreblackwoman’s 1st Anniversary Celebration Continues…With Music

The Perils of Publishing: When you realize you uploaded the wrong video! This is an updated post, with the correct video inserted. Mea culpa....

In late 2014-early 2015, I began to experiment with creating music videos, using an inexpensive video camera and learning about the process of videography. My friends know me as a musician, but I have not shared my music much on WordPress. So, as I close out this year, I’ll be sharing several of these videos, from both my Spiritual and Funky sides! I am gearing up to improve my skills… and my equipment—in 2016.
This first video is one of four that I created for the 2014 Advent Season, using readings from the Church Lectionary and the seasonal music I love. It consists of: (1) the hymn, “Of The Father’s Love Begotten,” (2) my original composition, “The Lord’s Come Through for Me” (copyright 1990 by Jacquelyn Oldham; words printed below), and (3) “Amazing Grace” which, I know, isn’t a Christmas hymn, but to me represents the spirit of New Life in the birth of Jesus.
The Lord’s Come Through for Me
Composed 2/26/1990

Just when the night was darkest, and I could not find my way,
I asked the Lord to guide me, and the Lord showed me the way;
He opened up my blinded eyes and let me see the day.
And that’s why I want to thank Him, Because He gave me a brand new day,
And since I started to put my trust in Him, the Lord’s come through for me.

Just when I was feeling that nobody cared for me,
I asked the Lord to touch me, and He stayed right by my side.
He opened wide His Loving Arms with a Healing Touch so real.
And that’s why I want to thank Him, Because He healed my sinful pride,
And since I started to put my faith in Him, the Lord’s been good to me—
Yes, the Lord’s come through for me.

And when the pain and sorrow s of my heart on deaf ears seemed to fall,
In the silence I called upon the Lord, and the Lord answered my call;
He heard my cry, He soothed my pain with a gentleness like rain.
And that’s why I am so happy now—the fears and pain long gone,
‘Cause I decided to put my trust in Him, and the Lord’s come through for me.
